Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva was the first Artist-in-Restaurant at Pied à Terre, Michelin-starred restaurant in London and Ladies Purses III, unique artwork formed part of her solo exhibition The Wish of the Witness.
This artwork is made sheep testicle sack, sourced from the restaurant’s kitchen, each preserved and sculpted into beautiful ‘purse’. This and the other works in the exhibition, sought to position themselves between the beautiful and the brutal; ‘recomposing decomposition’ into beautiful forms. The Wish of the Witness was produced following a period of 8 month in-depth research by the artist, in close collaboration with Pied à Terre chefs and is influenced and informed by the restaurant’s daily routines, menus and their presentation of beautiful dishes, inspired by the chefs conversations - a very manly object turned into female luxury.
Ladies Purses III is fully usable and collectable artwork made from sheep testicle sack, lined with silk and has the artist logo on the inside, is sold with the Perspex box.
